It's official!! Winter is over. Before you take that first ride or drive this spring be sure to read these prep tips.
Spending an afternoon inspecting and preparing your RV or classic can help keep it in optimal condition and prevent major repairs or even injuries later on.
Tires
Inspect your tires for cracks, flat spots or nails and screws. Look for exposed wire or mesh in the tread. If everything looks good check the pressure and move on.
Belts and Chains
Inspect for wear or weak spots. Check the tension as well. A broken belt or chain will leave you stranded on the side of the road.
Battery
If you have driven your vehicle all winter pull out the battery and give it a full charge overnight. Check the fluid levels if required. Batteries generally only last 4 or 5 years so you should consider a new one if it is that old.
You may also want to have the battery professionally tested. Most battery/auto parts stores will test for free.
Fuel
Be sure to use fresh fuel. If you used Sta-bil or a similar product you should not have any problems but bad fuel will certainly cause problems.
Fluids
Check your oil, brake, anti-freeze, wiper, transmission or anything else that may need topping off. Check your owners manual for recommendations.
Inspection
It would be smart the check your brakes and lights for proper operation and look for signs of excessive wear or damage.
